How do I make a transportation change?

If you need to make a change in your child's transportation home from school, you may either send a note to school or call the front office. They will then buzz our classroom and notify me.

What time is lunch? Can a guest attend?

Third graders eat lunch from 12:30 - 12:50. You are WELCOME to come and have lunch with your child. Please send me a note on the day you will be visiting so I can notify the cafeteria.

How do I pay for book orders?

Checks for book orders should be made out to Scholastic. One check can be written for multiple order forms. For example, if you are ordering from Trumpet, Lucky, and Scholastic - total the three forms and write one check.

What do I do if my child is absent?

Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. If your child is consistently tardy, he/she is missing morning exercises that reinforce previous lessons and give extra practice. Some classwork can be made up at home. However, we do many learning activities as partner work or in a group situation. This is very difficult to make up at home. Please make getting to school on time a priority for you and your child except in the case of illness or an emergency. If your child misses a school day a While you were out... folder will be sent home. Students are expected to make up any missed work. Please send a doctor's excuse or note stating why your child was absent.

What is iLEAP?

Third graders take the iLEAP test in March. This is a state wide test that includes Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Questions are multiple choice and constructed response. We will be working hard all year to prepare for this test. Your child will be ready! Please try not to pressure your child regarding the test. The more relaxed students are, the better they will perform. If you have any specific concerns, please let me know.

When can my child use his/her homework pass? What if it's lost?

No homework passes are earned as a reward or given as a gift. They can be used one time for an entire night's homework. The pass must be sent in lieu of the homework on the day the homework is due. If the pass is lost, it will not be replaced. Passes cannot be used for reading logs or projects.

How can I contact Mrs. Jones?

I check B.E.E. folders daily so the communication log is a great way to communicate with me. You can also call the school office (892-4311) and leave me a message. I will call you back as soon as I possibly can. Your questions and comments are very important to me!
